Our skin, though elastic but it does not clear up after it has been stretch by rapid growing of the uterus, when our skin is stretch, It leaves a white scarring called stretch marks or in medical term is striae gravidarium. It starts out as pinkish and glossy in appearance and in just matter of week the pinkish glossy appearance seem to streak out and that is what we called stretch marks.
Stretch marks occur in the surface of the skin. The surface of our skin is capable of healing it self, how ever in repeated stretching of skin, the ability of our elastic skin to bring back to its normal skin lapse.
Stretch mark is very common during pregnancy. If it is your first pregnancy, stretch marks disappear in a couple of days after giving birth. If in multiple pregnancies, stretch marks are very difficult to remove and it requires surgical procedure in order to remove it.
Dermabrasion or chemical peel is a safe laser surgery used to get rid of stretch marks. Lotions and creams can lighten the appearance of stretch marks. If you are pregnant, do not use lotion or creams to get rid of stretch marks. It is best to consult your doctor before indulging to lotions and creams. Some lotion ingredients are harmful to the developing fetus.
Diet and exercise plays a very important role in stretch marks, don’t you know that those who are actively participating in exercise is more likely to be free from stretch marks. Drinking enough water will keep your skin soft and hydrated. Stretch mark will be less visible when your skin is hydrated. Avoid drinking coffee. Of course when you are pregnant, a coffee is not advisable. Teas and sodas have the same effect to that of coffee and should also be avoided.  |
