Having too many children has more disadvantages than advantages, like for example, finances, schooling and even training up the child and the love you can give to children may also be affected. Of course having many children is also happy especially when the spirit of giving and love is in tact to a family.
Contraception methods are there to help at least give gap between pregnancies. The ideal age gap between siblings is four years. Four years is enough for a mother to gain back the strength lost during child delivery and just enough for the older siblings to understand why there is a need to have a younger brother or younger sister.
Birth barrier method. Birth barrier method blocks the sperm in entering the uterus to prevent from fertilizing the ovum. It is categorized into seven methods:
Condoms for female. Is a plastic pouch that is inserted in the vagina during coitus to prevent pregnancy and STD.
Condoms for male. Is a latex rubber that is inserted on the erect penis after coitus to prevent pregnancy and to prevent STD.
Diaphragm. Is a shallow, shape rubber disk made of flexible rim used in the vagina. It covers the cervix and prevents sperm from reaching the uterus.
Vaginal contraceptive film. Is a semi transparent square shape soluble film. It kills sperm in contact.
IUD (intra uterine device). Is a T shaped device and is inserted to the uterus to prevent pregnancy.
Spermicide. Is a substance that prevents pregnancy. Spermicide stops sperms from moving in the uterus to prevent pregnancy.
Sponge. Is a sponge like latex inserted into the vagina to prevent pregnancy.
In the ancient times, concoction of fruits and using of honey is used as barrier method to prevent pregnancy. Today, we use a modern method which is less likely preventive, not only in pregnancy but also in infections and STD.  |
