Contraception methods-Surgical Method

Surgical method is a permanent contraception method. Because of this, surgical method is only advice to couples who have many children and still capable of producing and also recommended for couples who do not want to have children in their entire life. Below are two methods of contraception that requires a surgery.
• Tubal ligation. Is a surgical method for women? It is 100% safe. It is done by cutting and or tying the fallopian tubes through abdominal incision. The principle of tubal ligation is to block the fallopian tube so that the ovum and the sperm will have no means to meet. Tubal ligation will not affect hormones of a woman and the sexual desire for couples will be more enjoyable since there will be no worries of the woman getting pregnant. Before a woman decides to have a tubal ligation, the Doctor should see to that the woman is free from pelvic infection and should do medical check up. A woman who has heart ailments, diabetes and bleeding is not allowed to undergo tubal ligation. An obese woman is also not encouraged for tubal ligation procedure. The woman should see to it that she is not pregnant. Usually the procedure is done after menstruation period before the couple indulge in a sexual intercourse.
• Vasectomy. Vasectomy is a permanent surgical method for men. This is done by 1cm incision in the scrotum. The vas deferens is cut or tied up so that sperm can no longer pass through the penis. Vasectomy is not encourage to men with no children and is single. A man who is unhappily married is not also advised to have a vasectomy for mental reasons, and is not advise also to couples who are unsure whether they want to have another child or not. Like tubal ligation, a man should not have a vasectomy if he has infection just like a genital tract infection. A man with hernia is also discouraged to have a vasectomy.
