The most important thing to consider when you are pregnant, is achieving a healthy pregnancy. Because when you are pregnant, you do not only tend to your own body but you are highly responsible to another human body, so delicate and so helpless, that is the fetus inside you. The way you take care of your self reflects on the health of the fetus inside you.
Achieving a healthy pregnancy need not to be expensive, in fact it will help you to cut off expenses, why? Because you will have to abstain from other routine habits in order to achieve it. Like for example, when you smoke you have to refrain from it so you cut off expenses a little.
Smoking is one of the reason of having unhealthy pregnancy and unhealthy baby. Don’t you know that children who were born to mothers who are smokers have a lower IQ compared to those children who were born with non smoking mother? Low average birth weight, premature baby and birth defect can also due to excessive smoking while pregnant.
While you are pregnant, pay attention to what you eat. Traditionally, when a woman is pregnant, we let her eat more because she is feeding another stomach, that is the fetus inside the uterus, but contrary to the truth, a pregnant woman should not eat foods for two, rather just eat a little and frequently. Watch out also of the foods you eat. It should be more in fruits, vegetables, wheat products and milk. Abstain from eating meat products and processed foods. Water intake should be taken more. Avoid soft drinks and soda.
Multivitamin, especially iron supplement is needed for a healthy pregnancy. Basically taking in of folic should be started before pregnancy or as early as 15 years old. This is to condition our body to a healthy pregnancy. Spina bifida is due to lack of B vitamins in the diet.
Alcohol intake during pregnancy is not advisable, like cigarette, an alcohol will encourage low birth weight and prematurity. Alcohol acts as a poison to babies inside the womb.  |
