Child Development Child Development Stages
The Child on Its 9th month of life

The child has now some gauge of in dependency that is due to the many development readily acceptable in him. He can now sit on his own for a longer period of time, carrying his own body weight, and stands with lesser demand of falling down. His crawling is developed such that he can crawl up stairs, and not just those flat surfaces. He is now trying to practice his ability to walk beginning with small steps; this is referring to as baby steps. He is also beginning to pull himself up by bending his knees and how to sit after standing. Sometimes, adults can refer to this simple training of infants for proper way of standing when one has been sitting down. Our baby does not do the shortcut which can cause adults to dislocate their spine.
Most parents are so observant enough with their baby’s first steps. They can not help but take pictures and videos with the baby walking toward them while they test the skill of the baby by walking slowly forwards. Now is the time that the parents need to play with the child, with large toys to pass toward the child example of this is throwing a ball. Toys which are colorful like building blocks are encouraged. Parents must be wary of giving their babies toys which have small parts which the baby can swallow. The dominant hand or the one that the child tend to use often in carrying objects is now developed and is readily observable in the child
At this stage a baby suffer from anxiety because of his more developed emotions. This is temporary and is generally outgrown in later months. Temporarily, it is normal for a nine-month-old to show an extreme attachment to you and fear of everyone else. This though is a challenge for babysitters and caregivers. It is a delight for parents now when their child is trying to please them. The child now is interested in seeking his parents’ approval. He realizes that a smile can eventually make his parents smile back at him and they love him. This is also a difficult time to travel with the baby. The child’s orientation of the world is disrupted when he is brought along to travel. Most mothers are clever enough to bring noise-making toys, and, most importantly, her security object which is sometimes an old baby pillow.

At age of 9 months, the child not only mimics the words uttered but actually understands them by the gesture and tone. Parents should not let the television become his babysitter. Although the baby hears the words on the TV set, he needs to have a person to person communication. Babies who grow up with TV’s have slower communication build up. No wonder the Bible encourage parents to speak to their children while they are lying down, getting up or walking. Recent studies corroborate with this fact that the more you talk to the child - while preparing dinner, driving, or getting dressed -- the more your baby learns about communication.
