Every woman ovulates or release egg any day from the two weeks on the first day of menstrual cycle. When this egg is fertilized by sperm, a new life is about to happen. Menstruation starts to ceased and a little change in our body is manifested. After the cessation of menstruation, an expectant mother hood will experience a feeling of tiredness and sleepiness without apparent reason.
The first trimester is the most sensitive period during the entire course of pregnancy. It’s in this stage where discomforts are experienced. Discomforting symptoms may include but not limited to: nausea and vomiting, little and frequent urination, food craving, and fatigue. All of which are due to hormonal changes. This is the time where you should take vitamin supplements, especially iron and calcium. Bad habits should be avoided like smoking, alcohol intake and taking in of over the counter medications especially taking in of anti biotic.
On the first week of pregnancy, after the cessation of menstruation, the uterine lining is thickened in preparation of the fertilized egg cell to stay there for nine months. During the formation of endometrium you will experience a feeling of tiredness and sleepiness. This is the reason why a woman who is believed to be pregnant likes sleeping most of her time.
By the third week and fourth week of pregnancy, neural tube forms. Neural tube is responsible for the formation of brain, spinal cord, hair and the skin organ. By the beginning of first month the embryo has already develop the base for thinking, senses and feeling. ‘Though in this stage the senses are not developing yet but at least the foundation to develop these senses are already established. On this stage expect the mother to be moody and irritable.
On its fifth week of pregnancy, major organs starts to develop like the heart, circulatory system, digestive system and nervous system. The embryo at this time has two heart lubes that beat weakly. When these two lubes joined together during the process of organ formation, the heart then will have a full function. On this stage, heart beat can already be felt using a stethoscope. The pregnant mother will then have a feeling of insecurity and at this stage chloasma develops. Supplemental iron and iodine are very important in developing baby’s brain.  |
