How to detect early signs of pregnancy in an irregular menstrual cycle?

Almost all of us believe that pregnancy normally starts with a missed menstrual period. But what if you have an irregular menstrual cycle? How would you detect that you are pregnant? Women who are sexually active often have this question in the back of their minds. Normally a woman will suspect that she is pregnant by the first missed period. After that she would go to the Doctor for pregnancy test, or at times they would just perform pregnancy test at home.

miss periodA woman usually ovulates every month, which is two weeks from the beginning of the first day of menstrual bleeding. In order to get pregnant, an ovum must be fertilized first. If you have a regular cycle, it is easy to asses the date of ovulation. But if you have an irregular cycle, it is very hard to detect the onset of ovulation.

As early as first week you can detect whether you are pregnant or not, it doesn’t matter if you have an irregular or regular menstrual cycle. Slight changes may now be detected, though it a vague changes in your body and often neglected because the changes is too light. Be very observant to your body for any physical and routine change that occur. First week pregnancy signs may include:
• Fatigue or feeling of tiredness even when you are not doing tiresome activity. This is mainly because during the first week of pregnancy, there is a drastically increase in progesterone level. When our progesterone rise up we feel lethargic, sleepless nights follows after.
• Tenderness of breast is also slightly noted. Tenderness of breast doesn’t mean that as early as first week you will produce milk. Breast milk comes out during first week of the third trimester. But on its first week you will notice a fullness of your breast. This is also due to progesterone increase.
• A very light cramping or tingling of your lower abdomen. If you suspect pregnancy and yet hesitant to go to an Obgyne, try lying on your stomach and observe a very slight cramping within. Others may have noticed this but ignore thinking that the feeling is just that their abdomen is pressed. Being a careful observant to your body is a must. The cramping and tingling sensation may be due to growing uterus.
You evaluate yourself and all the signs manifests, yet your menstrual cycle come? Confusing? No! The first week sign of pregnancy is a very crucial and confusing one. Bleeding is a positive sign that you are really pregnant. In lay mans’ term this is called ‘Implantation Bleeding’. Take note of the difference between a true menstrual bleeding and implantation bleeding. Implantation bleeding manifests a light pink blood colour or a brownish blood colour. This usually happens as early as 4 days from the time of implantation when the fertilized egg positioned to the right upper quadrant of the uterus. Regular menstruation on the other hand manifests a red blood.
