Preconception care

Preconception care is considered the most dangerous part of health care in women. Preconception gives reproductive wellness in order to prevent risks factors that will give problem in future pregnancy.
During reproductive age (fifteen to forty four years old), preconception is a vital health awareness to women to have a normal and a healthy pregnancy in the future. It educates women about reproductive health issues that could affect later in pregnancy. It involves three factors:
1. Determining health risk factor that can affect later during pregnancy.
2. To promote a healthy reproductive couple through reproductive education.
3. To prevent and treat early reproductive concern that can trigger risks later in pregnancy.
Preconception becomes important in medical care, because no matter how doctors increase prenatal care, still unsatisfied birth and pregnancy persists to be a problem. This can be seen through;
a. Premature babies
b. Low birth weight
c. Pregnancy complications
All these are due to destitute pregnancy outcome, and can be prevented prior to pregnancy. Preconception plays a very important role in having a healthy pregnancy. It is a care given to women of reproductive age before getting pregnant. Having an early education is important to women health.
Preconception involves reproductive health care education which includes Family Planning Information and seminar on healthy relationship. This includes counseling to both husband and wife. A health care provider may encourage women to,
1. Take folic Acid. Folic acid is necessary to all women of reproductive age (15 to 44 years old). This is to ensure that each woman will have a better preconception health. Folic acid should be taken during pregnancy develops.
2. Immunization. Immunization is very important to aspiring mothers to be in order to prevent or heal certain disease that can be a threat to fetus later when pregnancy develops.
3. Maintain a normal balance weight. Women of reproductive age should be aware of her weight and physical standing when planning to get pregnant. Over weight is unhealthy threat to fetus when pregnancy happens later in life.
