Fetus’ heart, lungs and digestive system are now fully developed. The eyes started to open. The baby can now differentiate dark and light. The fetus may reach and follow the light. At seven months, you will notice the fetus movements become intense.
The amount of amniotic fluid in the amniotic sac now measures about one liter. But will gradually decrease as the fetus grows and breathing sometimes will be hard for you. But do not worry everything is perfectly normal. The growing fetus reaches your diaphragm so you feel breathless. But as pregnancy goes, the fetus will position the head to the lower pelvis for you to breathe air.
By seven and a half months, baby’s body is now proportion. And at this time, the fetus is not actively moving because he fills almost the entire uterus. The bladder continues to develop and this time the fetus can pass water from his bladder. His liver functions normally and can produce red blood cells.
By eight months, the fetus weights about 1.5 kilos. The baby continues inhaling amniotic fluid. Do not worry this is a good exercise to keep his lungs to function normally. Your feet are a bit swollen because of edema or water retention. So keep hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Swelling is cause by water retention because at eight months old, the fetus needs much water, so drink plenty of water to avoid edema.
Finally it’s nine months. The fetus weight approximately 2.2 kilos. Baby’s hearing is now completely developed. You can talk to your baby and he listens. A feeling of numbness in the pelvis is felt. This is because your pelvic is loosened ready to give birth.  |
