Emergency and Safety Considerations

A good day care should follow an active emergency plan with all necessary safety equipments like first aid kits, fire extinguishers, cold packs, scissors, bandages, knife and child proof storage areas. They should develop a strong and safe plan to deal with fire and sever weather conditions. Regular safety drills should be held in day care centers so that the staff and children actively participate in them and learn more about safety procedures.

Parents should also ask to care providers that either any kind of inspection of the day care center or home is done by city organizations or local authorities to show that they are satisfied with the policies of the institution or not.

Check out the areas where babies are placed that either it is a calm and safe and comfortable place for babies and not commonly used by other people. Check that either the day care center have any kind of exit route in case of emergency or not. Ask them, do they have a transportation facility which can take the babies immediately to the hospital in case of emergency?
